On the other hand, a whole RNIS line is not indispensable to a digital central and its computer center to carry out digital phone-tapping . It is possible to listen to totally different phone traffick on the same commutator, from the very weak output of phones to very big outputs from the information transmitted on screens in ATM mode (asynchronous transfer mode). Voices and messages are stocked and can be analysed by computers which record or select from "key sentences" or phone routines. The mnemonic technique is used by SWISSCOM. We are still waiting to solve this problem which is minor today, but not after the year 2 000.

Non vocal phone-tapping through taxation

When you phone,many printers start off. Four or five bill listings are automatically set up for each number you dial, even if you do not have a conversation. In accordance with the protocols, a minimum of 10 functions work at the same time in the centrals and outside the centrals (MCA-TKC, TR 1000 ). The Swiss press wrongly declares that SWISSCOM keep in memory the list of the subscribers' numbers (4 figures only) and their speaker, hour by hour. The "taxes extract" which records the numbers without the last 4 figures is sent to the customer. The detalied taxation data is keyboarded by the centralized controls and is stocked on memory on 2 disks:

• the originating number in the identification module;
• the terminating number in the multi-recorder or MCA-TKG or
• the Multi-Channel-Analyser/Tax-Kontrol-Gerat.

The detailed taxation data is keyboarded according to the following pattern:

• the originating phone number, through a conversation set the terminating phone number, through impulses of selection, of date and time.
• the number of rings, in order to evaluate how urgent the situation was.
• the length of the call tax with all the numbers
